Girls Lacrosse is a CIF Southern Section Division 1 Championship program at Mira Costa that allows girls in every grade to develop their lacrosse skills and compete against local teams and those across Los Angeles and Orange County. Girls Lacrosse has been on the rise over the past several years, building momentum under the leadership of our coaches Maddy Morrissey, Rob Zoppo, and Laurel Van’t Hof.
Our varsity team's championship journey:
2022 – Battled to the CIF-SS Division 3 Championship, falling just short against Marlborough after beating them earlier that season.
2023 – Climbed to Division 1, taking on three-time defending champs Foothill in the playoffs.
2024 – Pushed all the way to overtime in the Division 1 Semi-Finals against eventual champion Marlborough.
2025 – Fought to the Division 1 Finals with an undefeated 18-0 record, facing a tough Foothill squad.
2026 – Our Varsity Team made history, capturing the program's first-ever CIF-SS Division 1 Championship with a dynamic 12- 6 win over top-seeded Santa Margarita!
Our Lacrosse program is thriving due to our hard-working coaches and parent volunteers, and thanks to the exceptional generosity of our families and community. While MBUSD pays a small stipend to our Head and Assistant Coaches, Maddy, Rob, and Laurel, we do not receive other funding from the district. We rely on your donations to fully fund our program - supplementing the coaches' stipends and paying for transportation, equipment, uniforms, and special events.
To meet the Girls Lacrosse program costs, we are suggesting a $175 donation per participant in the Fall PE Class, in addition to a $605 donation per athlete/participant for the Spring season.
Your donation in no way affects your athlete’s ability to participate in Girls Lacrosse. We understand that not every family is in a position to give these amounts, and that others can give more. We also understand that if Lacrosse is your athlete’s second sport, you have already been asked to donate to other booster clubs. Unfortunately, lacrosse does not receive any of the money donated to those other programs. Therefore, we would very much appreciate your donation of any amount to help us continue to run the program.

The Mira Costa Girls Lacrosse Boosters operates under the framework of the MBX Foundation, which is a Federal Tax Exempt Organization (FEIN 02-0603467). Donations to MBX go directly to the Girls Lacrosse program and are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
